SOL funding rate on Hyperliquid, this hour

Funding is what longs and shorts on the Solana perp pay each other to keep it near spot. When it is positive, longs pay. Markov reads SOL funding from Hyperliquid, which settles it hourly, and compares this hour with the last 7 days.

What does a negative funding rate mean?

How to read it

High positive funding means longs are crowded and paying to stay in. It can stay extreme for days, and a flip in sign says positioning changed, not that price will. When funding and open interest rise together, new longs are paying to pile in.

The numbers

The live rate is Hyperliquid's estimate for this hour, updated about once a second. The median and percentile come from the last 7 days of hourly settlements. Annualized is the hourly rate × 24 × 365. Hyperliquid adds a fixed 0.00125% an hour, so a calm market reads slightly positive.

It is Hyperliquid's rate only, never mixed with other venues. The free chart's Now panel shows the same number.

Questions.

Is SOL funding paid every 8 hours?

On Hyperliquid it settles every hour. Many exchanges quote it per 8 hours, so multiply the hourly rate by 8 to compare.

What does negative SOL funding mean?

The perp trades below spot and shorts pay longs. Shorts are the crowded side, but it isn't a signal on its own.

Is the annualized SOL funding rate a yield?

No. It assumes this hour's rate holds for a year, which it rarely does.
