What is DOGE open interest on Hyperliquid?

What open interest is

Open interest is the total of open perpetual contracts that have not been closed. Counted in the coin it is a quantity of DOGE, and in US dollars it is a value. On Hyperliquid, each hour's figure in this post is the last open interest sample Markov took in that hour. The dollar figure is the DOGE figure times that hour's mark price, so USD moves with price even when DOGE open interest does not.

Open interest does not say whether longs or shorts are winning. It says how much is open, not who is ahead.

How the numbers are made: change = (last - first) / first x 100. In DOGE, (1,009,719,786 - 1,010,466,518) / 1,010,466,518 x 100 = -746,732 / 1,010,466,518 x 100 = -0.07%. In USD, (74,920,198 - 78,560,740) / 78,560,740 x 100 = -3,640,542 / 78,560,740 x 100 = -4.63%.

The two columns differ because price moved: (0.074199 - 0.077747) / 0.077747 x 100 = -4.56%. The mark price went from $0.077747 to $0.074199 over the week, and the DOGE count also moved slightly, from 1,010,466,518 to 1,009,719,786, so the dollar value fell by more than the DOGE count did. The highest hour in DOGE (28 Oct) and the highest in USD (29 Oct) are different hours for that reason.

In DOGE, (1,009,719,786 - 1,249,999,814) / 1,249,999,814 x 100 = -240,280,028 / 1,249,999,814 x 100 = -19.22%. In USD, (74,920,198 - 102,111,235) / 102,111,235 x 100 = -27,191,037 / 102,111,235 x 100 = -26.63%.

The first hour of the record (recorded at 93%) is also the highest in DOGE. The lowest in DOGE, 996,834,324 on 30 October at 11:00 UTC, is inside the 27 October to 2 November window above.

Over the same 168 hours, Hyperliquid DOGE funding averaged 0.0011% an hour, or 0.0085% per 8 hours. The 8-hour figure is taken from the unrounded fraction: 0.00001066 (to 4 significant figures) x 100 = 0.0011%, and x 800 = 0.0085%. Its highest hour, 0.0013% on 27 Oct 00:00 UTC, is the first of 126 hours at that same rate, out of the 168. The funding figure comes from Markov's record, not from a Free view, and is context only.

How to read this

Seven days is a short sample. A fall in open interest means fewer contracts were open at the end than at the start; it does not say who closed them or why, and it says nothing about the hours after 2 November. The glossary explains open interest, and the DOGE open interest page reads it live.

Markov's own record of Hyperliquid DOGE perpetual open interest, 1h bars, UTC. Markov samples it every minute and keeps the last sample in each hour. In the 7-day window, 27 October 00:00 UTC to 3 November 00:00 UTC (end exclusive), all 168 hours have a value. In 37 of them the hour was recorded at between 95% and 99%. Over the window since 14 October 20:00 UTC, 459 of 460 hours have a value, one is missing (25 October 23:00 UTC) and 97 hours were partly recorded, the lowest at 68% (25 October 22:00 UTC), then 81% (26 October 00:00 UTC). Measured, not modelled.
